The Gonge roller offers an engaging motor skills challenge that grows with your child’s confidence and abilities. Younger children can begin by simply practising their balance while holding onto a friend, a wall, or a support bar. As their coordination improves, older children can push themselves further and explore just how much they can balance, move, and control without falling off.
The Roller is safe to use because the rubber-edged sides naturally slow the movement down through gentle friction and compression. At the same time, the roller is almost silent in use and helps protect floors and other surfaces from damage. The rubber tread also provides a secure grip and adds extra tactile stimulation when children use the roller barefoot.
Whether it’s used for play or therapy, the Roller helps stimulate your child’s proprioception, vestibular sense, and tactile sense.
The green Roller is designed for beginners. It is sand-filled to help slow the rolling speed.
It weighs 5.75 kg and measures 29.5 cm in diameter and 35.5 cm in length. Recommended from around age 4.
The orange Roller is designed for more experienced users. It is not sand-filled, allowing for a faster rolling speed.
It weighs 3.25 kg and measures 29.5 cm in diameter and 35.5 cm in length. Recommended from around age 7.
Both Rollers can support up to 100 kg.
Materials:
PP plastic and TPE rubber, fully tested and approved (of course).
Recommended age: green Roller from age 4, orange Roller from around age 7.
The activity helps your child develop skills and is wonderful for your child's well-being:
- With this activity, your child gets to practise their concentration skills.
- Benefits the vestibular sense, which improves balance, eyesight, and body awareness.
- This is a way for your child to develop their proprioception, which benefits your child's concentration and gives them the confidence to use their body in other types of physical play.
Suitable for children aged 4 yrs. to 11 yrs.
This toy has no rules or right or wrong ways to play, and your child can simply play without having to figure out how to use it. The goal is simply playing and being in the present moment. At Toy Academy, we call this type of play intuitive play - its also referred to as "open-ended play". Let your child play by using their intuition and seize the opportunity to watch what happens.
As opposed to types of play which focus on achieving a particular result, intuitive play will often let you have an interesting look into your child’s own thought process, imagination, and problem-solving skills.
Motor skills furniture is almost the exact opposite of sitting still and staying calm. Being able to rock and roll (literally) can in fact help children with motor restlessness find calm. When your child's vestibular sense and proprioception get more of the stimuli they require to work well, your child has an easier time settling down. This means that, when your child gets enough sensory stimulation, their body is able to relax and function better.
Motor skills furniture bought at Toy Academy is extra durable and will withstand years of use.
