Doing puzzles is a fun way to get better at understanding how separate parts form a whole and envisioning where each piece needs to be placed in the big picture.

Being able to perceive something visually and envision what's missing from a whole is important for learning math and geometry as well as understanding how sums, sentences, or a piece of knitting, among other things, consist of sequences and patterns.

If the puzzle has a special picture, such as anatomy, jungle animals, or flags of the world, you can expand your child's vocabulary by talking about it while doing the puzzle.
