Recommended for ages 4–15.
Your child can simply play with this toy without first having to figure out how it works. There is no wrong or right way to play, and there are no rules dictating what your child should do. The goal is simply playing and being in the present moment. At ToyAcademy, we call this type of play intuitive play. It's also referred to as "open ended play". We suggest that you seize the chance to watch how things unfold when your child plays in ways that let them follow their intuition.
Unlike types of play which focus on achieving a result or playing within specific boundaries, intuitive play will most often let you have a fascinating look into your child’s independent problem-solving skills, imagination, and thought process.
“Sit still and stop rocking the chair” doesn’t apply with motor skills furniture (thankfully). Being able to rock and roll (literally) can in fact help children with motor restlessness find calm. Your child's proprioception and vestibular sense require input to function at their best. And when your child's senses get the stimulation they need, the body can relax and function better.
