Suitable from age 3

Suitable for children aged 3 yrs. to 11 yrs.

This toy doesn't have any rules, and your child can simply play without thinking about how to use it. Playing in the present moment is the goal here. At ToyAcademy, we call this type of play intuitive play - its also referred to as "open-ended play". Let your child play by following their intuition and take the opportunity to observe how it unfolds.

As opposed to types of play which focus on achieving a particular result, intuitive play will most often let you have an interesting look into your child’s own problem-solving skills, thought process, and imagination.

Motor skills furniture is almost the exact opposite of sitting still and staying calm. Being able to rock and roll (literally) can in fact help children with motor restlessness stay calm. When your child's vestibular sense and proprioception get more of the input they need to work at their best, your child has an easier time settling down. This means that, when your child gets the sensory input they need, their body is able to relax and function better.

Motor skills furniture from ToyAcademy is robust and will withstand years of active play.

The activity helps your child develop new skills and is wonderful for your child's well-being:

  • This is a great way for your child to engage their vestibular sense. The vestibular sense helps us to stand on one leg, spin in circles, or ride in a car without losing our balance, feeling dizzy, or getting car sick.
  • This is a great way for your child to improve their proprioception, which strengthens their concentration skills and builds up their confidence to use their body in other types of active play.
