Doing puzzles together develops your child's patience and fine motor skills. Besides, putting the pieces in place is a fun way to get better at understanding how the pieces fit together to form a whole and envisioning where each part needs to be placed in the big picture.
The ability to register something visually (using our eyes) and envision a whole (and what parts are missing) is important when it comes to learning geometry and math as well as comprehending how sums, sentences, or even a piece of knitting, among other things, are constructed of patterns and sequences.
If the puzzle has a special theme, such as animals, anatomy, or geography, you can expand your child's vocabulary by talking about it while doing the puzzle.
