Board games, card games, and dice games are activities with clear and defined boundaries, which many children love. And such games can be a nice contrast to wild, free play with friends at school or kindergarten - games have rules, and for many children that can be a relief.
In addition, playing games gives your child an opportunity to learn to cope with losing a game. We recommend not letting your child win every single time you play. Learning how to handle disappointment in a safe setting together with you builds resilience in your child. After all, you won't be able to protect your child from disappointment and defeat later in life when they set out on their own.
