Gonge

Giant Top

Item No: 19-2101
The vestibular sense
Gross motor skills
Body awareness

The Giant Top is big enough for one or two children and packed with endless play possibilities. Kids can rock from side to side, spin around in dizzying delight, or turn it into the ultimate hiding spot. Little ones can even pretend it’s a boat and take it for a gentle “sail” on the water (always with an adult close by).

The Giant Top helps develop children’s coordination while they play and have fun. It’s also a great tool for supporting children with special needs, including those with physical disabilities.

This original Giant Top features a pointed base, allowing it to spin a full 360o around its centre. That means your child can experience the thrilling sensation of tipping upside down and spinning all the way around their own body. It’s a truly unique ride that gives the vestibular sense a great workout. For children under three, we recommend choosing the Mini Top instead.

With the Giant Top, you’re giving your child a fun head start on developing their motor skills, without it ever feeling like “practice.”

Designed by Gonge and made from hard, durable plastic, it’s built for adventures both inside the house and out in the fresh air.

The edge is rounded and slightly raised, featuring small built-in bumps that keep little fingers from getting pinched while playing. It also adds an extra layer of protection for your child's head during play. And when the Giant Top becomes a secret hideaway, the raised edge allows air to circulate underneath—nice and comfy for hiding out.

Measures 80.
Suitable for children aged 3 yrs. to 10 yrs.

This toy doesn't have any rules or right or wrong ways to play, and your child can simply play without having to figure out how to use it. The goal is simply to play and be in the present moment. At ToyAcademy, we call this type of play intuitive play - its also called "open ended play". Let your child play by using their intuition and seize the chance to observe what happens.

Unlike types of play which focus on achieving a particular result, intuitive play will often give you an interesting peek into your child’s own thought process, problem-solving skills, and imagination.

Motor skills furniture is the complete opposite of sitting still and staying calm. Rocking and rolling can actually help children with motor restlessness calm down. When your child's proprioception and vestibular sense get more of the input they need to work at their best, your child has an easier time staying calm. In other words, when your child gets the sensory input they need, their body can relax and function better.

Motor skills furniture from ToyAcademy is robust and will withstand years of active play.

The activity helps your child develop new skills and is great for your child's well-being:

  • Helps develop your child's gross motor skills, which are used every time your child moves their body.
  • Fires up your child's body awareness.
  • This is a great way for your child to engage their vestibular sense. The vestibular sense helps us to stand on one leg, spin in circles, or ride in a car without losing our balance, feeling dizzy, or getting car sick.
