Floor Surfer

A motor skills scooter board suitable for play and for stimulating motor development. The Floor Surfer combines play and development - and that’s something we get really excited about here at Toy Academy.
The Floor Surfer was developed in collaboration with pediatric physiotherapists to ensure optimal support for motor and balance development, with careful attention to posture and safety.
The Floor Surfer combines functionality, safety, and design - it doesn’t hurt when a motor skills toy also looks good in the living room, which is often where your child has the space to play freely.
The Floor Surfer is slightly curved at one end to support your child’s tailbone when they're sitting on the board and pushing themselves forward, and their chest when they're lying on the board on their stomach and “paddling” along.At the front, the Floor Surfer is slightly tapered to allow your child's arms to move as freely as possible. The wheels have been carefully selected and analysed to minimise the risk of rolling over your child’s fingers. They're high-quality wheels with double ball bearings, and they're made of clear PU plastic so they don’t leave black marks on the floor.The sides of the Floor Surfer make convenient handles for your child to hold on to, while their hands are protected by the protruding corners.The entire board is made of plastic with an EVA foam insert to provide a soft and comfortable surface.Length: 56 cm, Width: 37 cm, Height: 14 cm. The activity is great for your child's well-being and ability to learn new things:

• This type of play strengthens your child's gross motor skills. It particularly involves their ability to control the coordination of their arms and legs.
• Benefits your child's vestibular sense, which develops balance, learning ability, and concentration.
• Develops your child's proprioception, which strengthens your child's concentration skills and builds up their confidence to use their body in other types of physical play.

Suitable for children aged 3 mos. to 10 yrs.

Your child can simply play with this toy without first having to figure out how it works. Here, there is no right or wrong way to play, and your child doesn't have to follow any rules. The goal is simply playing and being in the present moment. We call this type of play intuitive play. It's also known as "open ended play". We recommend that you pause and notice how things unfold when your child plays using their intuition.

As opposed to types of play which are aimed at achieving a particular result, intuitive play will most often give you a fascinating peek into your child’s independent problem-solving skills, imagination, and thought process.

Motor skills furniture is the complete opposite of sitting still and staying calm. In fact, being able to rock and roll (furniture wise) can help children with motor restlessness find calm. Your child's vestibular sense and proprioception require input to function at their best. And when your child's need for sensory input is met, it's easier for your child to stay calm.
