Playing with play furniture lets your child repeat familiar everyday scenarios in the kitchen or the supermarket. Also, some types of play furniture are great for preparing your child for new experiences such as a café visit or a doctor’s appointment. There are certain expectations for how children should behave in different environments, and children can only try to live up to those expectations if they've had a chance to practise and experiment, for example through play that involves using polite phrases, placing an order, or explaining symptoms. It’s also ideal for the slightly shy child, who can practise having conversations.
