Magic Scarves - Large, Set of 4 pcs

Item No: 19-2307
The tactile sense
Vision

A chiffon scarf isn’t something most people associate with kids and playtime. But chiffon scarves in particular are actually brilliant toys for both very young children and bigger kids.

The beautiful and colourful scarves offer plenty of visual and tactile sensory stimulation for children. The bright colours stimulate your child's sense of sight. Their tactile sense is engaged when touching the scarves or pulling them over their head or body.

A 3 to 4-month-old baby will enjoy lying on a blanket or play mat while the scarf is gently draped over them. You can pull the scarf off again for a fun game of peek-a-boo. Your baby will get lots of wonderful sensory input from feeling the scarves against their skin while wearing only a diaper (as long as it's warm enough). Without clothes on, the scarves will touch a much larger part of your baby's skin, which means many more sensory receptors are activated.

When slightly older babies find themselves covered by a scarf, they will try to pull it off on their own. Older babies will enjoy playing peek-a-boo with you as well. If your child can sit up on their own, you can play peek-a-boo while sitting, too.

Bigger kids will love running or dancing with the scarves, or throwing them high in the air and watching them float down. You can also put the scarves over your heads and pretend you're ghosts - all while being able to walk around without bumping into doors or furniture.

When several children play together, the scarves can be used in all sorts of fun ways. For example, give each child a scarf and tie all the scarves together at the ends. Have the children stand in a circle (works best with an even number of kids) and ask every other child to turn around so the children are facing each other in pairs. Now, have the children walk forward in a circle. Ask half of the children to duck under the oncoming scarves, while the other half lift the scarves up high.

This activity requires coordination and timing, and it's super fun. Soon the children will be so tangled up in scarves they can barely move. It's almost like a scarf version of a human knot game.

Remember, the scarves are also wonderful for playing dress-up. They make great skirts or superhero capes.

The scarves measure 138 cm x 138 cm. They come in a set of 4 in assorted colours of green, blue, yellow, and red.

We also have smaller Chiffon scarves (68 cm x 68 cm, which come in a set of 12.

The scarves may contain excess dye, and we recommend handwashing them before use. Not machine washable.Suitable for ages 2 to 10.
