With fixed rules, card games, dice games and board games are clearly defined activities which delightfully do not entail negotiation with others. Many children find it a welcome relief to delve into a game with clear rules as a break from free play with their mates at school or kindergarten.

In addition, playing a game gives your child an opportunity to practise other important skills, such as losing. We suggest not letting your child win the game every single time. Learning how to cope with the disappointment of losing in a safe environment together with you makes your child resilient. After all, you will not be able to shield your child from defeat and disappointment later in life when they go out on their own.

Your child uses lots of different skills in the classroom, and every day they're learning new social, academic, physical, and mental skills all at the same time. Practising one or two academic skills with you at home in a calm setting can make the school day easier for your child.

With educational games, puzzles, and other kinds of playful learning activities, your child can gradually get better at number recognition, logical reasoning, small multiplication tables, writing, and other academic skills.

Maybe your child can’t get enough of educational play and wants to have more letters, logic, and numbers at home. Or maybe your child isn't in school yet but can't wait to get started and learn a bunch of stuff just like the big kids. Keeping school-related toys around at home is a great way to introduce your child to fun, playful learning so they can play themselves smarter whenever they want.

The activity is wonderful for your child's well-being and ability to learn:

  • Sharpens your child's memory skills through play.
  • Supports your child's number recognition and counting skills and basic understanding of math.
