Want to let your child—or a whole group of kids—move, climb, and play using their whole body from head to toe?

A swing, a mat, a seesaw, a hammock, wall bars, a trapeze… creating the perfect play space can quickly become a complicated project, often involving lots of equipment to set up (and pack away again when playtime is over). 

That’s where Danish brand Gonge comes to the rescue with this Mini Parkour set for children aged 3–7. Parkour is a super popular, energetic way to play, where the goal is to keep the momentum going by grabbing, climbing, balancing, and twisting your way through the surroundings. It’s a sport—well, more of a subculture—that kids are bound to come across as they get older.

This is a toy your child can just play with without first having to figure out how it works. Here, there is no wrong or right way to play, and your child doesn't have to follow any rules. Playing in the present moment is the goal here. We call this type of play intuitive play. It's also referred to as "open ended play". Let your child play by following their intuition and seize the opportunity to observe how it unfolds.

Unlike types of play which are aimed at achieving a result or playing within specific boundaries, intuitive play will often give you an interesting peek into your child’s own problem-solving skills, imagination, and thought process.

“Sit still and stop rocking the chair” doesn’t apply with motor skills furniture (thankfully). Being able to rock and roll (literally) can in fact help children with motor restlessness find calm. When your child's proprioception and vestibular sense get more of the stimuli they require to function and thrive, your child has an easier time staying calm. This means that, when your child gets the sensory stimuli they need, their body can relax and function better.
