Toy food is great for role playing, which inspires your child to imitate real-life situations such as cooking, shopping, or going to a café. Talk about where our food comes from and what happens to it inside the body. This develops your child’s vocabulary and knowledge.

Through role playing, your child can gain experience with boundaries, rules, and opportunities for social interaction and identity formation. When the children play with play food together, they practise how to take turns, communicate and work together to reach compromises. You can also expand your child's play opportunities by playing grocery store, maybe with little homemade special offer signs. That way, you can have fun with both words and numbers, and your child can build up their confidence practising polite phrases and adding up small sums.
