Building and construction play is very educational, very fun, and a bit time consuming. We'll leave out a long dissertation on how this type of play supports your child's hand-eye coordination, creativity, and fine motor skills as well as their interest in entrepreneurship and understanding of geometry.
While playing, your child also gets practical experience with problem-solving as they figure out how to set up the construction so it doesn't suddenly fall over.
