Stacking Blocks - The Ladder

Item No: 1120-DJ08503
Proprioception
Depth perception
Hand-eye coordination

These lovely stacking blocks are a Djeco classic, and you’ve probably seen them before.

These stacking blocks are extra lovely because your child learns so much from figuring out how to stack them in the right order and make sense of the different sizes. Each block has pictures on all sides, with designs that support your child’s development in different ways.

Stack the blocks so the rope ladder lines up from top to bottom of the tower, or count the objects on one of the other sides. Talk about the different animals and see if you can name the numbers together.

Measures 15x15 cm. The tower is 86 cm tall.

Suitable for ages 1 yr. to 2.5 yrs.

When children play by stacking blocks or similar objects on top of each other, which they start doing as soon as they are able to sit up on their own, they simultaneously learn about balance, gravity, proportions, and physics. At first, it's all about pushing over the blocks. But gradually, your child's motor skills become stronger, and they learn to stack 3, 5, or 10 blocks or begin stacking toy animals or other things. If you choose stacking blocks with numbers, your child can get better at numbers and sequences while playing.

The activity is great for your child's well-being and ability to learn new things:

  • This type of play helps your child train their depth perception skills. For instance, this will help your child walk or cycle in traffic safely. "How fast is that car coming towards me?" suddenly becomes a bit easier to estimate.
  • Supports hand-eye coordination, a skill used for example when catching or kicking a ball that comes flying towards us in PE class, or when cutting precisely with a pair of scissors.
  • This is a great way for your child to develop their proprioception, which improves their concentration and gives them the confidence to use their body in other types of active play.
