Tactile Discs - Set B
Playing with different surfaces and textures, and letting both the hands and the feet explore ridges, bumps, spikes, edges, and waves, provides wonderful sensory input and stimulates our thoughts and emotions.
Each of these delightful tactile discs has its own textured pattern and colour, ideal for sensory play that stimulates the tactile sense - or for other types of imaginative play fuelled by children's wonderful imagination and creativity. For example, the tactile discs make great stepping stones in a wild jungle obstacle course or a game of The Floor Is Lava, and they're perfect for guessing games where you try to describe the texture of a disc without looking.
The set includes a blindfold and a tactile guessing bag. If you want even more tactile discs, take a look at "Set A", which is similar to this set but has different patterns and colours.
The large tactile discs are ideal for placing on the floor, while the smaller ones are great for holding and feeling, or for walking on all fours with a small disc under each hand and foot.
Gross motor skills, memory, recognition, vocabulary, trust, and teamwork can all into play with tactile discs.
The tactile discs are made of a soft yet firm rubber material that feels pleasant to touch. The set includes:
-5 large tactile discs with different textures
-5 small tactile discs with different textures
-1 elastic blindfold
-1 bag for tactile guessing games
Made of synthetic rubber.Suitable for ages 2-8, but also an excellent choice for older children and seniors.
Maximum load: 100 kg.
What makes this product special
What does your child's tactile sense have to do with all their other senses?
Read Play Guide 3 and learn about how your child’s well-being is shaped by the interplay of several primary senses, and how you can gently stimulate your child’s tactile sense through play.Read all about it here.Toys for learning through play
Play is essential for children’s learning, well-being, and development. Through play, children learn about themselves and the world around them.
Play helps children:
• stay curious
• focus and become absorbed in what they're doing
• take on age-appropriate challenges
• build confidence
We believe children learn best by doing things for themselves:
• by making mistakes
• by getting messy
• by falling down and getting back up again
Resilience, confidence, and courage grow through experience, one small step at a time.
That's why we carefully choose toys that encourage independence, imagination, movement, and social skills — offering just the right balance of support, freedom, and opportunities to grow.
Carefully selected toys
We carefully handpick every toy from the vast world of toys available today. The only toys that make it into our range are ones we'd be happy to give our own children.
Every toy at ToyAcademy should:
• support learning through play
• be made from durable, high-quality materials
• be safe and enjoyable for children to play with

This toy has no rulebook or right or wrong ways to play, and your child can simply play with it without worrying about how to use it. Playing in the present moment is the goal here. At ToyAcademy, we call this type of play intuitive play - its also called "open-ended play". Let your child play by using their intuition and take the opportunity to notice what happens.
As opposed to types of play which are aimed at achieving a particular result, intuitive play will most often give you an interesting peek into your child’s own imagination, problem-solving skills, and thought process.
At ToyAcademy, we believe children should get the chance to use their body and their brain as much as possible. Allowing your child to roll, jump, rock, tumble, and crawl all over the furniture gives them opportunities for lots of extra physical activity in their day-to-day life. And that’s only a good thing, because your child's proprioception just can't be overstimulated.
Motor skills furniture bought at ToyAcademy is extra durable and will withstand years of use.
