What makes this product special

Lovely sound puzzle with all the animal friends your child knows from home - or at least from somewhere... not everyone has a horse, a frog, or a fish at home, of course. Each piece has a small peg, so your child can easily grasp it and guide it into place.Every time your child places a puzzle piece correctly, the corresponding animal sound is played. The puzzle has 8 pieces.Note: The puzzle has light-activated sensors. This means that if a piece is not in place and the lighting changes (a lamp is turned off, the sun sets, etc.), the sound will be triggered.

This activity stimulates essential skills which are great for your child's well-being and ability to learn new things:

  • Here, your child can work on strengthening their fine motor skills.
  • This type of play sharpens your child's hearing and invites them to listen attentively.
  • Strengthens hand-eye coordination, which is used for example when we cut a straight line with scissors, when we need to pour a glass of water without missing, or when we catch, throw, or kick a ball that comes flying at us in PE class.

Suitable for children aged 2 yrs. to 4 yrs.

Doing puzzles strengthens your child's fine motor skills and patience. Also, putting the pieces in place is a fun way to get better at understanding how the pieces fit together to form a whole and envisioning where each part belongs in the big picture.

The ability to perceive something visually and envision a whole (and what parts are missing) is important for learning geometry and math as well as understanding how sums, sentences, or knitwork, among other things, consist of sequences and patterns.

If the puzzle has a special topic, such as time, animals, or the universe, you can talk about it and strengthen your child's vocabulary while you're placing the pieces.

Do you know Melissa & Doug?

For years, the aunties and uncles at Toy Academy have enjoyed a great relationship with Melissa & Doug's skilled toy makers. The people at Melissa & Doug have a great understanding of which types of toys children choose to play with again and again, and which therefore stimulate their curiosity, capture their attention, and give their brains and bodies lots of learning.

Every year, the Melissa & Doug collection bubbles with new ideas, and the selection in our webshop is a smorgasbord of developmental toys for educational play. The toys are versatile and durable, and many of them can be used in many ways. This adds to the sustainability of the toys, as they offer lots of different play opportunities that do not require additional consumption of the earth's resources and energy.
