Time Timer Junior Wristwatch - Light Grey
This clever wristwatch gives your child three features in one comfortable, easy-to-wear design:
- A portable Time Timer that makes time visible and easy to understand—for example, what 20 minutes really means
- A regular watch that displays time in both analogue and digital formats
- Vibrate or audible alert at the end of the countdown
Children really benefit from learning to tell the time and manage their own day—whether it’s catching the bus, waiting for guests, or knowing how long there is until dinner.
But what really makes this watch special is that it’s also a Time Timer.
The Time Timer has a special clock face, originally developed by an American mother who found it tricky to explain what “20 minutes” or “45 minutes” really mean on a regular clock, where the hands count up rather than down.
On a Time Timer, the numbers count down instead. So right after 12, it shows “55”, then “50”, then “45”, and so on. It’s a bit hard to explain, but it’s incredibly intuitive once you see it for yourself.
The main idea is this:
The timer counts down while moving in the same direction as a regular clock—only the numbers count down instead of up.
It’s actually very logical. If you want to set, say, 25 minutes on a Time Timer—so your child knows there are 25 minutes left in the evening before it’s time to pack lunches and brush teeth—here’s how it works:
- Set the red disc to cover 25 minutes. Now the clock face is white from “12 o’clock” to where you’d normally see “35 minutes”—because from “35” back to “12” is 25 minutes.
- This is where it gets really clever: the numbers on the Time Timer are reversed. So instead of showing “35” when you’ve set the timer to 25 minutes, it quite logically shows “25”. And it counts down from “25” instead of up from “35”.
- So in practice, you simply set the Time Timer to “25” when you want to keep track of 25 minutes. After 5 minutes have passed, the red section will show “20”, making it clear that only 20 minutes are left of the evening.

What makes this product special
Toys for learning through play
Play is essential for children’s learning, well-being, and development. Through play, children learn about themselves and the world around them.
Play helps children:
• stay curious
• focus and become absorbed in what they're doing
• take on age-appropriate challenges
• build confidence
We believe children learn best by doing things for themselves:
• by making mistakes
• by getting messy
• by falling down and getting back up again
Resilience, confidence, and courage grow through experience, one small step at a time.
That's why we carefully choose toys that encourage independence, imagination, movement, and social skills — offering just the right balance of support, freedom, and opportunities to grow.
Carefully selected toys
We carefully handpick every toy from the vast world of toys available today. The only toys that make it into our range are ones we'd be happy to give our own children.
Every toy at ToyAcademy should:
• support learning through play
• be made from durable, high-quality materials
• be safe and enjoyable for children to play with

Do you know Time Timer?
Your child becomes much more independent from being able to tell time and learning to manage their own time; for instance, how long until mealtime or when guests will arrive. The Time Timer has a disc that shows time counting down. The concept of time is abstract, so we think the Time Timer is just a stroke of genius. It's clear to see from on the red disc (or blue on some models) how much time remains. The Time Timer is silent, and it's easy to track the countdown.
There are several Time Timer models to choose from. For example, Time Timers come as wristwatches, with different minute counts, and in various sizes. The Time Timer is also great for adults and children with special needs. The bigger models are suitable for bigger settings or for visually impaired users. They have high colour resolution and ultra quiet timers with no audible ticking.
The idea behind the 60-minute Time Timer
The clock counts down, but it goes clockwise and the numbers also go down rather than up.
It's very logical. For instance, if you need to set the Time Timer to 25 minutes, so your child understands 25 minutes are left of the evening before they need to brush their teeth and hear a bedtime story, this is how it's done on the Time Timer:
Set the red disc so it covers 25 minutes. Now the dial is white from "12 o’clock" to where it normally says "35 minutes" on the face of a regular clock – because from "35" to "12 o’clock" is 25 minutes.
The smart thing about the Time Timer is that the dial is reversed. On the Time Timer, it doesn't say "35" when you set the timer to 25 minutes. It logically shows "25". And the red disc counts down from "25" and not up from "35".
So, this means you need to set your classic 60-minute Time Timer to "25" when you want to time 25 minutes. When 5 minutes have passed, the red disc will show "20" minutes, so it's clear to see that there are only 20 minutes left before bedtime.
