Time Timer - Magnetic Pictograms, Starter Set

Item No: 1078-JAC5060
Memory
Language and language comprehension

Pictograms make activities easier to manage and understand for children, young people, and adults with special needs.

This set, designed for use with Time Timer, is ideal for children who need a little extra support with daily activities and routines.

Pictograms help develop independence and improve time awareness.

This set is magnetic, durable, and ready to use.

Place the pictograms on a magnetic surface like the fridge, or create your own routine by combining them with matching time pictograms on the door hanger.

For example, create a “Good Morning” routine so your child can see what comes next: 10 minutes to get dressed, 20 minutes for breakfast, and 10 minutes to brush teeth, wash hands, and use the toilet—then it’s time to head out.

The illustrations are simple and easy for all children to understand.

The set includes:

  • 35 blank magnetic pictograms
  • 35 Time Timer pictograms
  • 1 magnetic door hanger for displaying pictograms
  • 1 dry-erase marker for drawing or writing on the included blank pictograms

Time Timer is not included and must be purchased separately.

Do you know Time Timer?

Your child becomes much more self-reliant from being able to tell time and learning to manage their own schedule; for instance, when guests will arrive, when to leave the house, or when it's mealtime. The Time Timer has a clock face with a disc that visibly shows time counting down.

For example, if your child has 15 minutes to wolf down some breakfast, you just set the Time Timer to 15 minutes. The clock then counts down silently, while the red/blue disc gradually shrinks.

We have several Time Timer models to choose from. For example, Time Timers come as wristwatches, with different minute counts, and in various sizes. The Time Timer is also great for children and adults with special needs. The larger models are suitable for bigger settings or for visually impaired users. They have high colour resolution and ultra quiet timers with no audible ticking.

The idea behind the classic 60-minute Time Timer
The clock counts down, but it goes clockwise and the numbers also go down instead of up.

It's very logical. For example, when you need to adjust the Time Timer to 25 minutes, so your child knows 25 minutes are left of the evening before they need to brush their teeth and hear a bedtime story, this is how you do it on the Time Timer:

Set the red disc so it covers 25 minutes. Now the dial is white from "12 o’clock" to where it would say "35 minutes" on a clock dial – because there are 25 minutes from "35" to "12 o’clock".

The ingenious thing about the Time Timer is that the numbers are reversed. On the Time Timer, it doesn't say "35" when you set the timer to 25 minutes. It logically shows "25". And the red disc counts down from "25" and not up from "35".

This means you need to adjust the standard (60 min) Time Timer to "25" when you want to time 25 minutes. When 5 minutes have gone by, the red disc will show "20" minutes, so it's clear to see that there are only 20 minutes left until it's time to get ready for bed.
