Suitable for children aged 6 yrs. to 10 yrs.

Board games, card games, and dice games are activities with clear and defined boundaries, which many children love. In contrast to wild, free play with friends at school or kindergarten, it can be nice to immerse yourself in an activity where not everything is up for negotiation - games have rules, and for many children that can be a relief.

In addition, playing a game gives your child an opportunity to practise other important skills, such as losing. We suggest not letting your child win every single time you play. Learning how to cope with losing in safe surroundings together with you makes your child resilient. After all, you will not be able to shield your child from disappointment and defeat later in life when they go out on their own.

Supports important skills that really benefit your child's well-being and ability to learn:

  • This type of play helps your child improve their depth perception skills. For example, this will help your child navigate traffic safely. "How fast is that car coming towards me?" suddenly becomes a little easier to estimate.
  • This type of play stimulates your child's gross motor skills. It particularly involves your child's ability to coordinate their arms and legs.
  • Supports hand-eye coordination, a skill we use for example when cutting accurately with scissors, pouring water into a glass without spilling and making a mess, or when kicking or catching a ball that comes flying towards us in PE class.
