Doing puzzles is a good way to get better at understanding how single pieces form a whole and figuring out where each part needs to be placed in the big picture.
The ability to register something visually (using our eyes) and envision a whole (and what parts are missing) is important when learning geometry and math as well as comprehending how sentences, sums, or a piece of knitting, among other things, are made up of patterns and sequences.
If the puzzle has a special picture, such as animals, anatomy, or geography, you can expand your child's vocabulary by talking about it while doing the puzzle.
