Play with hand puppets lets your child practise understanding and telling a story with a beginning and an end. This is a useful skill which can be improved by talking about a story while you're telling it, and telling it over and over.

Physical props can be a great help in teaching children to understand stories and storytelling. A hand puppet allows your child experiment with telling stories. What's more, they're a very good way to make a story or fairy tale come alive. The reader telling the story does not get hidden behind a book but gets to be active and in contact with the little listeners, who get to join in the story instead of being passive.
