Suitable for ages 4 yrs. to 11 yrs.
Building and constructing is very educational, very fun, and a bit time consuming. We can very easily write a long sales pitch about how construction play stimulates your child's creativity, hand-eye coordination, and fine motor skills as well as their interest in entrepreneurship and understanding of geometry.
With this type of play, your child also gets practical experience with problem-solving as they figure out how to build the construction so it doesn't suddenly fall over. Your child's construction play with all sorts of building blocks, pieces, or magnets develops their patience. Also, it's just so cool and satisfying to build the longest marble run ever or construct a skyscraper higher than yourself, or to maybe make a really cool domino field and film it as it topples.
The activity helps your child develop new skills and is great for your child's well-being:
- Supports hand-eye coordination, a skill used e.g. when kicking or catching a ball that comes flying towards us in PE class, or when cutting precisely with scissors.
- This activity gives your child hands-on experience with cause-effect through play.
