Suitable for ages 4 yrs. to 11 yrs.
Building and construction play is educational, fun, and also time consuming. We'll leave out a long and tedious dissertation on how this type of play supports your child's fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination, and creativity as well as interest in entrepreneurship and understanding of geometry.
With this type of play, your child also gets practical experience with problem-solving when it comes to figuring out how to set up the construction so it doesn't suddenly fall over. Your child's construction play with all sorts of building materials stimulates their imagination. Also, it's so cool and satisfying to construct a tall, tall tower or build the longest marble run ever, or to maybe make a super cool domino row and film it as it topples.
The activity is great for your child's well-being and ability to learn new things:
- Supports hand-eye coordination, a skill used e.g. when catching, throwing, or kicking the ball that comes flying towards us in PE class, or when cutting accurately with scissors.
- This activity lets your child build practical experience with cause/effect through play.
