Play food is great for pretend play, which inspires your child to act out real-life experiences such as shopping, cooking, or visiting a café. Talk about where food comes from, when we typically eat it, and where it goes after we swallow it. This helps to strengthen your child’s knowledge and vocabulary.
Through role play, your child can gain experience with boundaries, rules, and opportunities for identity formation and social interaction. When the children play together with play food, they learn how to cooperate, take turns, communicate, and compromise. You can also use the play food to play grocery store and practise making special offers, writing signs, and politely greeting customers. Your child can practise taking payments and giving back change, which is a great way of practisting their math skills.
