Giant Inflatable Solar System, 13 pcs

Item No: 21-LER2434

Academic knowledge

It can be hard for children (and curious grown-ups too) to truly grasp the enormous size differences between the Sun, the Moon, and the eight planets in our solar system.

And the distances between them? Almost impossible to wrap your brain around.

With this set, you can inflate the Sun, the Moon, and all 8 planets, then use the included guide to place them at the correct distances from one another.
It’s a hands-on way to make the vastness of space a little easier to imagine.

All 10 pieces have loops at the top for easy hanging.

You also get a foot pump, a repair kit, and a small activity guide in English and German with helpful space facts, including tips for placing the planets, the Sun, and the Moon with proportional distances between them.

Please note that this kit is NOT scientifically accurate when it comes to the exact sizes and distances in our solar system. The Sun is simply far too large, and the distances between the celestial bodies far too enormous, to recreate perfectly in a hands-on model.
To put it into perspective: if the Sun were a 10 cm orange, the Earth would be 10 metres away and 109 times smaller, roughly the size of a tiny pinhead. Nearly impossible to represent in a meaningful way. But this set does give children and grown-ups a fascinating glimpse into the incredible scale of space. And honestly, that’s pretty mind-blowing in itself.

Science is no longer something difficult and dull that adults work with in distant laboratories or offices. STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) toys are a perfect example of that. The conventional boundaries between natural science, technology, engineering, and mathematics are blurred, and your child gets to be at the centre of the learning process through experiments and play.

Do you know Learning Resources?

As their name suggests, it's essential for Learning Resources to create materials that make learning fun for children.

In particular, STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) is at the centre at Learning Resources. Among other things, your child can learn to explore and experiment, build robots, and learn to code. For educators and teachers, Learning Resources is a learning goldmine. Coding dinosaurs, sorting animals, and math games can really be a breath of fresh air in the classroom.
