A balance bike does not have pedals, so your child pushes the bike forward with their feet while straddling the bike. Balance bikes are brilliant for building up your child's balance and cross-body coordination from an early age.
A balance bike is a great way to challenge your child without them crashing or falling over often - because your child constantly has a foot on the ground and is able to slow down or regain balance. Being able to control their speed much more easily than on a normal bike gives your child a feeling of being free. At the same time, you can also practise left/right, understanding traffic signals, and looking out for other road users.
A great way to prepare for learning to ride a pedal bike. Once your child is confident on the balance bike, putting training wheels on their pedal bike often becomes a redundant middle step - because your child already has great balance.
