Here, essential skills are stimulated, which are wonderful for your child's well-being and ability to learn new things:
- This is a way for your child to engage their vestibular sense, which helps us to spin in circles, stand on one leg, or ride in a car without getting dizzy, losing our balance, or getting car sick.
- This is a way for your child to improve their proprioception, which increases your child's confidence to use their body in other types of physical play and benefits their concentration.
Suitable for ages 2 yrs. to 6 yrs.
A balance bike has no pedals, so your child pushes the bike forward with their feet while straddling the bike. Balance bikes are brilliant for stimulating your child's balance and cross-body coordination from an early age.
A balance bike is a great way to challenge your child without having to worry about them having too many accidents - because your child constantly has a foot on the ground and can stop the bike and keep their balance. Being able to race around and control their own speed (far more easily than on a standard bike) gives your child a sense of freedom. At the same time, you can also practise left/right, understanding traffic signals, and looking out for other road users.
A great way to prepare for learning to ride a bike with pedals. Once your child is a little pro on the balance bike, putting training wheels on their regular bike while they learn how to pedal often becomes a redundant middle step - because balance is not a problem for your child.
