Turn on the binoculars' light in a dark room and watch the pictures on the lenses glow on the wall. You can’t actually look through these binoculars – but if that’s what you’re after, we carry real binoculars too.

With music, tones, and animal sounds, these binoculars invite imaginative role play as explorers or wildlife researchers following animal calls.

Have you wondered what the numbers on a pair of binoculars mean? For example, 3x30 means that the binoculars have 30 mm lenses and 3 times magnification. In practice, 3x magnification means that an object which is 3 metres away from you will appear through the binoculars as if it's only 1 metre away. The larger the lens (the higher the mm), the darker your surroundings can be while using the binoculars, as the lens is what “draws light into” to the binoculars.

A low magnification makes it easier for younger children to get a sharp image with the binoculars. The higher the magnification of your child's binoculars, the more important it is to be able to hold the binoculars very steady and point them in exactly the right direction. Generally, we recommend that you align your expectations with your budget. If you want high-magnification binoculars, you'll need at least 15-30x magnification. But such large binoculars are heavy and need a tripod to keep the image steady and sharp.
