Blue Marine - Dump Truck L: 28 cm

Item No: 1075-4920
Imagination
Role play
Observation

Haul gravel, toy figures, stones, or pinecones on the bed of this beautiful 28 cm truck. Or haul your lunchbox and a banana to the garden and have lunch outside. The truck bed is hinged at the rear, so you can safely dump the load wherever it needs to go.

Why are the colours different on the sand toys in the Blue Marine range?

Because Blue Marine toys are made of recycled fishing nets, and those are blue and green, not bright red or yellow. The plastic used to make your child’s navy blue bucket may very well have seen mermaids in the Philippines and tuna in the Pacific Ocean. When that plastic is reused to make toys for your child, it doesn’t just end up floating around in the ocean. A brilliant solution for everyone!

Plastic is a valuable resource that should be recycled, not thrown away.

The toy makers at Dantoy know all about that. For years, they have been leading the way among toy manufacturers, working closely with international environmental organisations and the plastic industry to find a way to recycle the 1 million tons of fishing nets and ropes from the fishing industry that end up in the world’s oceans every year, wrapped around fish or in the stomachs of sea turtles.

The result of Dantoy's dedicated efforts is Blue Marine Toys.

Because the toys are made of recycled plastic, the finished toys have slightly different colours than Dantoy toys usually do, and their surfaces also look a bit different. But Blue Marine toys are just as sturdy and durable as toys made from new plastic, and they can also handle a spin in the dishwasher at 70 degrees Celsius - just like all the other toys from Dantoy.

The raw materials for Blue Marine toys have been tested for unsafe chemical substances and approved for children's play.

Furthermore, Dantoy release no microplastics in the wastewater from their production, as they actively filter out microplastics as part of their commitment to the Operation Clean Sweep program.

The company also prioritises sustainability when it comes to their packaging, which is either made of responsibly sourced cardboard (which is a wonderful toy in its own right) or consists of a mesh bag that can be used for storing the toys.

Note: You may be wondering why the Blue Marine range doesn't carry the Nordic Swan Ecolabel, since the rest of Dantoy’s plastic toys do.

The reason is that in order to obtain the Nordic Swan Ecolabel, a toy maker must provide full documentation of the exact origin of the materials used. This is called material traceability.

And naturally, it’s very difficult (impossible, really) to trace and document the origins of fishing nets collected for reuse. So, even though Blue Marine toys meet the Nordic Swan Ecolabel requirements in many ways, both in terms of chemical composition and sustainability, unfortunately they cannot be approved to carry the label.
