Building and constructing is fun, a bit time consuming, and very educational. We could easily write a whole essay about how this type of play stimulates your child's creativity, hand-eye coordination, and fine motor skills as well as their interest in entrepreneurship and understanding of geometry.

With construction play, your child also gets practical experience with solving problems when they need to figure out how to build the construction so it doesn't collapse. Your child's construction play with all sorts of pieces, blocks, and other building materials develops their imagination and patience. And it's just such a confidence boost to construct a tall, tall tower or build the world's longest marble run, or to maybe create a super cool domino row and film it when it topples.

Supports important skills that really benefit your child's well-being and ability to learn new things:

  • Gives your child's fine motor skills a playful workout.
  • Supports your child's understanding of colours/shapes.
  • Develops hand-eye coordination, a skill we rely on e.g. when we catch or kick a ball that comes flying at us in PE class, when we cut in a straight line line with scissors, or when we need to pour water into a glass without spilling and making a mess.
