Board games, card games, and dice games are activities with clear and defined boundaries, which many children love. It can be nice to immerse yourself in a game where not everything is up for negotiation - games have rules, and for many children that can be a relief.
Besides, playing games lets your child practice other important skills as well - such as losing. We recommend not letting your child win the game every single time. Teach your children to handle losing a game in a safe environment with you. This makes your child resilient, which will benefit them later in life when they have to handle situations on their own and you are no longer there to shield them from defeat and disappointment.
