And it's just so lovely to get a little handwritten letter from your child that says "lof yu" - and just as surprising and amusing to see the first note stuck to the door of your child’s room that says "groanups keep out". Down the line, a steady hand and a good grasp are useful when making handwritten Christmas and birthday cards.
