Drawing and having fun simply helps your child gain control of the pencil, which is a big advantage at school. And it's absolutely lovely to get a little handwritten note from your child that says "lof u" - and equally surprising and amusing to come across the first piece of paper stuck to the door of your child’s room that says "groanups keep out". Down the line, a steady hand and a good grasp are useful when making handwritten cards for Christmas and birthdays.
