A monster friend introduces the idea of acceptance to your child's world. Monsters are different and are often portrayed as dangerous in stories and fairy tales. We humans often react with fear and suspicion when something breaks with the norm.

Playing with monsters expands your child’s understanding of what a friend can look like. Moreover, monster friends are popular with children of any gender, which opens up a world of shared play across other interests such as trucks, princesses, or swords. And with monsters, your child's imagination can run wild - because when your child creates, sculpts, or invents a monster, they get to decide whether it has seven ears, an eye on each knee, antennas, or arms everywhere. Monsters don’t have to look "perfect" (in a normative sense), and your child can proudly present their new monster friend, who, thank goodness, is far from normal.

We carry playdough of many different types and colours and different firmness levels. Firm playdough stimulates your child’s proprioception by providing a bit more resistance. Among other things, firm playdough is very suitable for making stop motion movies, because it holds its shape well.

It’s a calm activity that can help your child stay still for just 6 more minutes - or help them deal with long train or car rides without restlessly wiggling about in their seat. In particular, for children who experience motor restlessness, playing with something that activates proprioception, hands, fine motor skills, and imagination while sitting still can bring a sense of calm.

Oil-based playdough tends to stay soft for several years. You can soften water-based playdough by kneading in a bit of water.
