Big, lovely foam building blocks that can be stacked high and toppled endlessly - without bumped heads or sore toes when the tower comes crashing down.
Even very young children down to 9 months old can handle the large, soft foam blocks, as they don’t weigh nearly as much as regular building blocks made of e.g. wood.
The set has 32 colourful blocks, and they're easy to put away and store in the included zippered plastic bag.
Playing with the blocks is the perfect opportunity to chat about colours and shapes - a great way to sneak in some fun vocabulary practice. You can also play a classic game of 'Can I have the yellow one, please?' A fun little game that's all about practising talking together, asking politely for things, and saying please and thank you.
The blocks are also a real treat for your little one's proprioception - figuring out how to grab and hold the blocks, stack them on top of each other, and control small, careful movements all give your child a wonderful sensory workout.
The activity is great for your child's well-being and ability to learn new things:
- Helps develop your child's gross motor skills, which are activated whenever your child is physically active.
- Benefits your child's vestibular sense, which develops balance, concentration and learning ability.
- Stimulates your child's proprioception, which strengthens your child's concentration skills and builds up their confidence to use their body in other types of physical play.

“Sit still and stop rocking the chair” doesn’t apply with motor skills furniture (thankfully). Being able to rock and roll (literally) can in fact help children with motor restlessness stay calm. Your child's proprioception and vestibular sense require input to function at their best. And when your child's senses get the stimulation they need, the body can relax and function better.
Motor skills furniture bought at Toy Academy is extra durable and can withstand years of fun, active play.
