The activity helps your child develop skills and is great for your child's well-being:

• Strengthens hand-eye coordination, which is engaged for instance when we throw, catch, or kick a ball that comes flying towards us in PE class, or when we cut a precise line with scissors or want to pour a glass of water without spilling.
• Encourages your child to practise social skills, for instance being able to lose, listen, trade toys, or wait their turn, being patient and tolerant, and making an effort to read the situation.

Learning how to cope with disappointment in a safe environment with you helps make children robust and resilient. After all, you can no longer shield your child from disappointment and defeat later in life when they go out on their own.
