Being able to understand and tell a story with a beginning and an end is a very important skill to have. That skill can be improved by telling a story again and again and preferably talking about it along the way, asking questions, and adding your own touch to the story.
Hand puppets can bring a fairy tale or story to life. The reader telling the story does not get hidden away behind a book but gets to be in active contact with the little listeners, who get to be actively participating children instead of passive children.
