Suitable for ages 5 yrs. to 14+ yrs.When your child plays with a ball using their feet, hands, head, or a racket/bat, their depth perception is stimulated. Besides, ball games may have rules, and it's good for your child to practise following and negotiating them. So, when your child persistently insists that there's absolutely NO penalty kick, or that the ball was NOT out of bounds, you can definitely celebrate - that's a learning moment. What's more, your child's proprioception gets a good workout with ball games, and that's a sense which just can't be overstimulated.
The activity is great for your child's well-being and ability to learn:
- This type of play helps your child develop their depth perception skills. For instance, this will help your child cycle or walk in traffic safely. "How fast are others coming towards me?" suddenly becomes a little bit easier to judge.
- This is a great way for your child to strengthen their proprioception, which improves their concentration and gives them the confidence to use their body in other types of active play.
