What makes this product special

Measures 2,4x12x0,8.
Suitable for ages 3 yrs. to 11 yrs.

Constructing and building is fun, a bit time consuming, and very educational. We could easily write a whole book about how this type of play develops your child's hand-eye coordination, creativity, and fine motor skills as well as interest in entrepreneurship and understanding of geometry.

With this type of play, your child also gets hands-on experience with problem-solving as they figure out how to design the construction so it doesn't fall over. Your child's construction play with all sorts of blocks, pieces, and sticks makes it fun for them to concentrate. Also, it's so satisfying to construct a tall, tall tower or build the longest marble run ever, or to maybe create an amazing row of dominoes and film it as it topples.

This activity benefits essential skills which help support your child's well-being and ability to learn:

  • Helps your child strengthen their fine motor skills.
  • Benefits hand-eye coordination, a skill we use for example when cutting accurately with scissors, pouring a glass of water without spilling and making a mess, or when catching or kicking a ball that comes flying towards us in PE class.
  • This type of play helps your child improve their concentration skills.

Do you know KAPLA?

Kapla are simple, brilliant building blocks. They are made of pine and are very easy to balance, durable, and stable - and their slightly rough texture makes them easy to build with and stack. Kapla blocks can be used to build surprisingly large structures. On social media, we have been captivated by huge, focus-intensive constructions of large spiral staircases or the Eiffel Tower, made only from the wooden blocks from Kapla.

Your child gets hands-on experience with cause and effect and how to (try to) cope with disappointment, if (or when) their awesome structure comes crashing down. It's super frustrating, but it also motivates your child to come up with solutions. Perhaps the construction needs to be tighter - or maybe it needs to be up on a table instead of at floor level where pets and younger siblings roam.
