Maileg was created in 1999 by Dorthe og Erik Mailil, who set out to make durable toys with personality and soul as a counterbalance plastic toys and throw-away culture. The name Maileg is a mix of the Danish word for ""play"" and the founders' surname. Based in Herning, Denmark, Maileg makes animal figures, Christmas elves, and accessories full of nostalgia and Nordic simplicity.Maileg's mice, elves, animal figures, and accessories are made with slow, calm play in mind. It's all about creating worlds and immersing yourself in stories with toys whose quality and appearance will last for years.
