Dressing up or playing with doll sets, play sets, and face paint are all ways of role playing. Role play is an important part of your child's development. While role playing, your child is inspired to think creatively when it comes to their own identity. What can I do as a knight or a dragon? How does a cowboy or a dragonfly talk? These sorts of reflections stimulate children's social skills. Through role play, your child gets the chance to test boundaries, rules, and opportunities for identity formation and social interaction, and this stimulates their understanding of the world they live in.

Maileg was founded in 1999 by Dorthe og Erik Mailil, who set out to design durable toys with lots of soul and personality as a counterbalance to fast trends and throw-away culture. The name Maileg is a combination of the Danish word for ""play"" and the founders' surname. Based in Herning, Denmark, Maileg creates animal figures, Christmas elves, and accessories that radiate ""hygge"" and Scandinavian design.

Maileg's elves, mice, and figures are made with slow, calm play in mind. It's all about imagining worlds and telling stories with toys whose appearance and quality will last for many years. Your child gets to form a heartfelt and close bond with their toys and the charming little mice and elves.

Not all Maileg products are toys - some of the elves, mice, and other figurines are purely decorative.
