Maileg was founded in 1999 by Dorthe og Erik Mailil, who set out to design toys with soul, personality, and high durability as a counterbalance plastic toys and throw-away culture. The name Maileg is a combination of the founders' surname and the Danish word for play. Based in Herning, Denmark, Maileg creates animal figures, Christmas elves, and accessories that radiate ""hygge"" and Scandinavian design.

It's all about creating worlds and telling stories with toys whose quality and appearance will last through years of play.
