Maileg was created in 1999 by Erik og Dorthe Mailil, who set out to make durable toys with personality and soul as a counterbalance to fast trends and throw-away culture. The name Maileg is a mix of the founders' surname and the Danish word for play. Based in Herning, Denmark, Maileg makes toy figures and accessories that radiate Nordic simplicity and ""hygge"".
