Suitable for ages 3 yrs. to 14+ yrs.
It supports your child's depth perception to play ball using their feet, hands, head, or a racket/bat. Ball games may also have rules, and it's good for your child to practise following and negotiating them. So, when your child firmly insists that there's certainly NO penalty kick, or that the ball was not out of bounds, feel free to cheer - that's a learning moment. What's more, your child's proprioception is very much engaged with ball games, and that's a sense which just can't be overstimulated.
This activity supports essential skills which support your child's well-being and ability to learn new things:
- This type of play helps your child improve their depth perception skills. For instance, this will help your child cycle or walk in traffic more safely. "How fast are others coming towards me?" suddenly becomes a bit easier to estimate.
- This type of play stimulates your child's gross motor skills. It specifically involves your child's ability to control the coordination of their arms and legs.
