What makes this product special

Suitable for ages 3 yrs. to 6 yrs.

Squishing, pulling, patting, squeezing, and stretching with your hands magically sharpens your child’s concentration, even though it is really a form of distraction. For instance, when you need to sit still and pay attention to a fairy tale, it’s fun to knead and play with different types of sensory slime, clay, or playdough while listening.

For the littlest ones, playdough is mainly about the sensory experience. And bigger kids can use playdough to bring their funniest ideas to life. Playdough lets your child make anything from three-headed aliens to knights and princesses.

We carry playdough of several different types and colours and with different firmness levels. Firmer playdough stimulates your child’s proprioception because it offers more resistance when played with. For example, firm playdough is ideal for making stop motion movies, because the shape holds better.

It’s a calm activity that can help your child be still for just six more minutes - or help them cope with long car or train rides without fidgeting and moving around in their seat. In particular, for children who experience a lot of motor restlessness, fiddling with something that activates fine motor skills, hands, imagination, and proprioception while sitting still can bring a sense of calm.

You can get water-based or oil-based playdough, and each type has its own advantages. You can soften water-based playdough by kneading a bit of water into it. But oil-based playdough remains soft for several years.

Of course, all the different types of playdough, sensory slime, and modelling clay we carry at ToyAcademy are CE-marked and approved in accordance with current toy safety legislation - just like all our other products.

The activity supports skill development and is great for your child's well-being:

  • Unleash your imagination and see where playtime takes you.
  • A playful way to strengthenyour child's tactile sense, which is important for their well-being.
  • Develops your child's creativity.
