The set includes 19 pieces in total: 4 tubs of soft modelling clay 4 tools (incl. a rolling pin) 10 moulds.
Create a whole zoo, or simply enjoy squishing the clay and pressing it into fun shapes and patterns using the included tools.
This set of modelling clay is approved for children from 18 months. It’s made from natural ingredients and safe if your little one decides to sneak a taste. The modelling clay is very salty (yuck!), so it definitely doesn’t make a good snack. But a little taste and some finger-licking during playtime are perfectly safe.
It’s a good idea to stay close by when your little one is playing with the modelling clay, just in case they unexpectedly develop a taste for ocean-level salty treats.
For young children, playing with modelling clay is mostly about the sensory experience. Feeling the clay between their fingers and realising they can shape it themselves is a very special, and very satisfying, discovery for little ones.
As children get a little older, they start using their imagination and growing understanding to model the clay into familiar things and animals, or into entirely new creatures dreamed up along the way.
With this modelling clay, you can relax and let your child play to their heart’s content. Modelling clay invites open-ended, imaginative play, especially once your little one has grown out of the tasting-everything phase.
Here, important skills are engaged, which are wonderful for your child's well-being and ability to learn new things:
- Here, your child can stimulate fine motor skills.
- Ideal for developing your child's visual perception.
- Fantastic for your child's tactile sense. A well-developed tactile sense benefits your child's well-being.
Suitable for children aged 18 mos. to 5 yrs.
For example, when your child needs to sit down and pay attention to a story, it’s fun to squeeze and knead different kinds of sensory slime, clay, or playdough while listening. It magically sharpens your child’s concentration, even though it is really a type of distraction.
For very young children, playdough is mostly about the sensory experience. And bigger kids can use playdough to bring their funniest ideas to life. Playdough lets your child make anything from three-headed aliens to princesses and knights.
We carry playdough of several different types and colours and different firmness levels. Firm playdough stimulates your child’s proprioception by providing a bit more resistance. For instance, firm playdough is perfect for making stop motion movies, because it holds its shape better.
It’s a calm activity that can help your child stay still for just six more minutes - or help them endure long car or train rides without fidgeting and moving around in their seat. Particularly, for children who struggle with motor restlessness, fiddling with something that activates their hands, proprioception, imagination, and fine motor skills while sitting still can help them calm down.
You can get water-based or oil-based playdough, and each has its own advantages. You can soften water-based playdough by kneading a bit of water into it. But oil-based playdough tends to stay soft for several years.
Naturally, all the different types of playdough, sensory slime, and modeling clay at Toy Academy have CE-marking and are approved in accordance with current toy safety legislation - just like all our other products.
