Doing puzzles develops your child's fine motor skills and patience. Besides, putting the pieces in place is a fun way to get better at understanding how parts fit together to form a whole and envisioning where each part needs to be placed in the big picture.
Being able to perceive something visually (using our eyes) and envision a whole (and what parts are missing) is an important skill in learning math and geometry as well as comprehending how sums, sentences, or knitwork, among other things, consist of patterns and sequences.
