Play food is ideal for imaginative play, which inspires your child to act out real-life experiences such as cooking, shopping, or being in a café. Talk about where food comes from, when we typically eat it, and where it goes after we swallow it. This is great for your child’s knowledge and vocabulary.
Role play where children act out everyday activities develops their understanding of the world around them. With play food, your child also gets to play and be silly with food in a way that is maybe not allowed at the dinner table. You can also use the play food to play grocery store and practise greeting customers, writing signs, and calculating special offers. Your child can take payment at the cash register and give back change, which is great for their math skills.
