Suitable for ages 18 mos. to 5 yrs.

Talk about where food comes from, when we typically eat it, and where it goes after we swallow it. This helps expand your child’s knowledge and vocabulary. Play food is great for pretend play, which inspires your child to act out real-life scenarios such as shopping, cooking, or being in a café.

Through role play, your child can gain experience with rules, boundaries, and opportunities for social interaction and identity formation. When multiple children play with play food together, they learn how to take turns, communicate and work together to reach compromises. You can also use the play food to play grocery store and practise writing little signs, coming up with prices and special offers, and practising polite phrases. Your child can take payment at the cash register and give back change, which is great for practising their math skills.

This activity supports important skills which help support your child's well-being and ability to learn:

  • Unleash your imagination and see where playtime takes you.
  • Perfect for group role play, where little ones practise finding their own place in the game and taking turns to leads.
  • Strengthens your child's language understanding and development.

Do you know Learning Resources?

Providing children with materials that make learning fun is important for Learning Resources - as their name suggests.

In particular, STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) is at the centre at Learning Resources. For instance, your child can learn to build robots, code, do experiments, and explore their world. For teachers and educators, Learning Resources is a learning goldmine. Coding dinosaurs, sorting animals, and math games can really add some fun to the teaching.
